This is my Great Great Uncle Michael (Uncle Mike) Baughman. He moved to what is now Archer City Texas in 1870's. Along with CB Hutto he plotted the town of Archer City. Uncle Mike and his brother Frank (my GG Grandad) built the first post office and some other buildings in the new town. CB Hutto was also the first Postmaster of the town. When he died in 1879, Uncle Mike was Postmaster until the County was organized in 1880. He was also instrumental in organizing the Archer County. He and his brother also helped many of the first settlers to the town by hauling lumber from Gainesville and Sherman. They also hauled goods from Sherman and Dallas for the stores.
He died in Archer City August 18th 1936 at the age of 84.
