Finlay Texas Post Office 1937
Photo by Dorothea Lange of the Finlay Post Office in 1937 when the town had a population of about 25. Today, Finlay is a ghost town but in it's heyday the post office served up groceries, coffee and Coca-Cola while visitors waited for their mail to arrive from the West at 2pm and from the East at 3:45. If you had out-going mail and arrived when the store was closed you could drop it in the wooden mail box with the tin roof held in place with a heavy rock.
