Algerita Hotel in Post Texas in 1913
Guests driving early cars arrive on dirt street at the Algerita Hotel in Post Texas in 1913. The building first opened July 17, 1908 and was demolished in 2014 due to safety reasons after serving the community for 106 years as a hotel, doctor’s office, grocery store and arts center. The Algerita, named for the silver-green algerita bush native to Texas, was designed by cereal tycoon C.W. Post. He hoped the building would stand as an advertisement for the city which he had designed.
