Parks Canada has preserved the remnants of the second British fort built at this location on the Detroit River. The Fort was the site of several armed conflicts including the War of 1812 and the Upper Canada Rebellion 1837-

1838. Information on the significant military contribution made by African Canadians in these conflicts is available at Fort Malden.

Today Ft. Malden presents an idylic parklike setting with a modern interpretation center. There is much to explore, including several restored buildings and excavations. Costumed interpreters add interest by reliving the excitement of life on the early military frontier.
