  Roy Perry was born in Chatham and came to Windsor at the age of two. He graduated from Patterson Collegiate and then earned is Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto. Dr. Perry practiced dentistry for 30 years in Windsor.

Dr Perry also served the community in

  many other ways. In 1949 he was elected Alderman for Ward 3. Dr. Perry also served as the Director of the
YMCA, the President of the Essex County Dental Association, Chairman of the Windsor Board of Health amongst other important roles.

  Dr. Roy Perry will always be remembered for his skating parties. Beginning in 1949 Dr. and Mrs. Perry hosted an annual Ice Carnival. Pictured below is Dr. Perry with some of the over 2000 children who enjoyed skating at Windsor Arena and winter fun in February of 1955. Also at Christmas time 200 children from needy families

  would receive gifts from ‘Santa’ during the Perry’s party on their lawn of their home on Riverside Drive.
 
In 1970 Dr. Roy Perry was named the Citizen of the Year by the Windsor Civitan Club for his work with underprivileged youth. For more information on Dr. Perry please see the Politics section of this website.
