Eugene
Steele |
|
|
|
Eugene Steele was the first African Canadian to be
a member of the Windsor Fire Department. He married Frieda Parker
and was the father of five daughters. Mr. Steele was also well
known for the elegant hats he made and decorated with pheasant
feathers. Several of his creations were on display at the Prince
Edward Hotel in the early 1960’s. |

Ron
Jones |
|
|
|
In 1966 Ron Jones was hired by the Windsor Fire Department.
He became its highest-ranking black officer with a rank of District
Chief in 1995. He obtained the level of Expert in Incident Command
through the Ontario Fire College and has trained members of fire
services in Windsor and across Ontario. Jones has qualified as
a Hazardous Materials Incident Manager and worked with the Canadian
Security Intelligence Service on matters of counter-terrorism. |

Richard
Dennis |
|
|
|
Richard was born in 1966 in Windsor, to
Glenn and Gail Dennis.
He was raised as the sixth child in a family of seven kids who
attended H.E.
Bondy Public School. Richard
graduated
from Central, then attended Centennial Secondary.
He
ran Track & Field while in elementary school. He went on
to play basketball
and football in high school, winning a city Football Championship
with the
Cougars in 1984. After high school he began working for his father
at Kadem
Technology in the Mold Design/Tool and Die industry before being
hired onto
the Windsor Fire Department in 1987.
Richard was married for 13 years and has four children, Jordenne,
Jacqueline, Jillian and Christian, who range from 8 to 16 years
of age.
Currently Richard is working on the Westside of Windsor at Station
#4 on
College Avenue and he is an eighteen year, 1st Class Qualified
Captain. |

Dennis |
|

|
George
Copeland |
|
|
|
George Copeland was born in Borough County near Leeds
in England on October 4th, 1960. He moved with his family to Windsor
as a young child and attended F.W. Begley Public School. As a teen
he attended W.D. Lowe and graduated from J. L. Forster High School.
George is a graduate of St. Clair College with a Degree in Data
Processing.
George joined Windsor Fire Protection Services on January 3rd,
1993. He currently holds the rank of 1st |

is the proud father of three, oldest son Chad and twins Tira and
Maxwell. |

Carey
Chase |
|
|
|
Carey Chase was born and raised in Windsor and attended
Dr. H.D. Taylor Public School and Forster Collegiate. As a teenager
Carey earned the title of Michigan Golden Gloves champion for boxing
and participated in martial arts. He then joined the Canadian Armed
Forces and served 5 years with the Royal Canadian Artillery in
C.F.B Gagetown, NB and achieved the rank of Master Corporal. Carey
returned to Windsor and became a Police officer with Windsor Police
Services. He went on to be an |

After years of obtaining specialized courses
and credentials Carey Chase became a firefighter with Windsor Fire
and Rescue Services in 2003 at the age of 41. Mr. Chase is a member
of the firefighter Honour Guard and his photograph has appeared in
the 2005 firefighter calendar. He participates in many events and fund
raisers on behalf of the W.F.R.S. and is a coach for both the Windsor
South Canadian Baseball League and the Windsor Soccer League. Mr. Chase
has been happily married for 23 years to his lovely wife Lisa and has
two wonderful children, Deon and Tasia. |
